Concert “From the Slavic South to Czech Friends” Held in Prague

On September 17th, 2009, at the Old Town Square in Prague, a concert entitled “From the Slavic South to Czech Friends” was held. This concert was organized by the association “Lastavica” which consists of citizens from Southeast Europe, mostly of B&H origin, who live and work in the Czech Republic.

To open the concert, President of “Lastavica” Edib Jaganjac, a distinguished Prague doctor who was born in Sarajevo, emphasized that regional cultural cooperation between West Balkans countries is very good. The concert was sponsored by Mayor of Prague Pavel Bem and Ambassadors of B&H, Croatia, Serbia, and Macedonia – Ivan Orlic, Frano Krnic, Vladimir Veres and Igor Ilievski.

Former Czech President Vaclav Havel also attended the concert, along with representatives of the diplomatic corps, and great number of persons from public and cultural life of the Czech Republic. Czech President Vaclav Klaus also expressed his support. Goran Bregovic performed Balkan, Greek, Gipsy and Turkish music with his orchestra before about 40,000 of spectators, among them members of the Balkans diaspora, Czechs, and foreign tourists.
