Consul General of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Chicago Eldin Kajevic Visits the Holocaust Memorial Museum in the City of Skokie
On August 18th, 2009, Consul General of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Chicago Eldin Kajevic, along with representatives of BiH`s community from Chicago, visited the Holocaust Memorial Museum in the city of Skokie, Federal State of Illinois, and on that occasion met with Samuel Harris, Museum President and survivor of the Holocaust, Museum Executive Director Rick Hirschhaut, American Jewish Committee (AJC) President Allan Reich and the AJC`s Director General Jonathan Schwartz.
Hosts expressed their interest in BiH history, current situation in the country, the status and ways of organizing of BiH`s diaspora in Chicago and wider. They also inquired about the Sarajevo Haggadah and emphasized aspiration to be partners in its public display in Chicago. In this respect, they proposed public displaying of the Haggadah to be held in April next year at premises of the recently built Holocaust Memorial Museum.
The interlocutors agreed to start jointly the planning phase of the public display program, and discussed possible visit of Geraldine Brooks, the author of the book ''People of the book'' inspired by the story on the Sarajevo Haggadah.
