Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Canada Mithat Pasic Meets with Director of  the Multilateral Trade Policy Division  in the DFAIT of Canada Edith St-Hilaire

On August 18th, 2009, Charge d’Affairs a.i. of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Canada Mithat Pasic met with Director of the Multilateral Trade Policy Division in the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Canada (DFAIT) Edith St-Hilaire and her Deputy Colleen Mapendere.

Charge d’Affairs a.i. Pasic informed Director St-Hilaire and her Deputy Mapendere about the BiH’s activities and requirements regarding accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and inquired about Canada’s attitude in terms of domestic support and export subventions in the field of agriculture. In relation to this, Charge d’Affairs a.i. Pasic asked for Canada’s support.

irector St-Hilaire and her Deputy Mapendere stated that they are aware of the complexity and specific features of the situation in BiH as well as the justified reasons for which BiH requests 10% de minimis for supporting the domestic agricultural sector and export subvention in agriculture. They underlined that Canada supports BiH’s accession to the WTO, promising they will intensify the internal talks with the Canadian WTO negotiators and other agents in the field of agriculture and deliver return information to the Embassy of BiH in Ottawa before the meetings regarding BiH’s accession to the WTO, which are planned to be held in September.
