Meeting of Minister Alkalaj with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria Mourad Medelci

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sven Alkalaj met in Teheran on July 30th 2008 with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria Mourad Medelci. Two Ministers met at the 15th Non-Alignment Ministerial Conference, held in Teheran from July 27th to July 30th 2008.

Minister Alkalaj expressed satisfaction with having met Minister Medelci, and said that a postponed visit to Algeria is expected to be realized in the upcoming period.  Minister highlighted that high level visits are the great opportunity for improvement of cooperation at all levels. Two Ministers agreed to organize meeting of the President of BIH and President of Algeria, during the 63rd meeting of the OUN General Assembly to be held in September this year.

The two agreed that political relations between two countries are good and expressed a wish for further improvement of economic cooperation. In regards to that, Minister Alkalaj emphasized the significance of prompt process of visas issue to BIH citizens, namely businessmen, taking into account expected development of economic cooperation.

The collocutors talked about the Union for the Mediterranean and agreed that it could play a significant role in the region, and that it is of great importance that forms of cooperation be precisely defined in the meeting in Marssei, as well as financing options, and instruments for realization.  

Minister Medelci re-invited Minister Alkalaj to visit Algeria soon, as agreed.
