Reception at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in London

On December 3rd, 2009, in premises of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina a joint reception of Embassies of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Slovenia was held in London. The reception was held on the occasion of marking the forthcoming holidays and results that BiH achieved on the political agenda, submitting application for the NATO MAP  and non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council, in which BiH was strongly supported by Slovenia.  

In her welcoming address, Ambassador of BiH in London Jadranka Negodic emphasized support that Slovenia extended to Bosnia and Herzegovina in its activities on the political agenda as well as the most important goal for BiH at present – visa liberalisation. She added that BiH and Slovenia share the same history and that they have huge similarities in economy, culture and languages. She recalled that more than 50.000 of BiH citizens live and work in Slovenia and that where they became recognized element of cultural, scientific, sport and economic life of Slovenia.

Slovenian Ambassador in London Iztok Jarc confirmed that two Embassies have good cooperation and accentuated that Slovenia will continue to extend support to BiH.

Michael John Gapes, Chairman of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee of Great Britain, addressed the guests.

The reception was attended by more than three hundred invitees and among them members of the diplomatic corps in London, representatives of public and political life of Great Britain, high level British guests, former High Representative in BiH Paddy Ashdown, former British Ambassadors in the countries of the region, BiH and Slovenian diasporas in London and notable businessmen.

Artists from BiH who live and work in Great Britain participated in cultural part of the program.
