Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ana Trisic-Babic Meets with Director of the Strategy Department in the UK Foreign Office Nigel Gold-Davies
On December 1st, 2009, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ana Trisic-Babic met with Nigel Gold-Davies, Director of the Strategy Department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Deputy Minister Trisic-Babic informed Director Gold-Davies about political developments and political processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina since the Dayton Agreement. She emphasized that full-fledged EU and NATO membership are BiH's foreign policy priorities and that we are carrying out the necessary reforms, in spite of the fact that we are in a less favorable position than other countries in the region because of our limited administrative capacities. Trisic-Babic also pointed out the advantages and challenges which we can expect once we gain full European Union membership, adding that she believes Brussels should further encourage Bosnia and Herzegovina on its way to the EU, at least in terms of visa liberalization.
Director Gold-Davies stated that he is currently working on a project which follows the accession of the region's countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina included, to the European Union and, as part of the project, is looking into what would be the most efficient forms of UK assistance in these processes. He showed interest in reforms that have been carried out and in opening new prospects for new future solution aimed at accelerating BiH's progress towards the EU.
