Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ana Trisic-Babic Holds Consultations with Ambassadors Accredited to B&H Resident in Budapest

On December 9th, 2009, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ana Trisic-Babic held consultations with 16 Ambassadors accredited to Bosnia and Herzegovina resident in Budapest.

Deputy Minister Trisic-Babic informed Ambassadors about the current political and economic circumstances in B&H and reminded them about the reforms that have been carried out successfully. She also spoke about the “Butmir process” as well as agreements between political leaders regarding possible constitutional reforms and meeting the remaining conditions for visa liberalization and Euro-Atlantic integration.

She also underlined the important role that Bosnia and Herzegovina will have in the forthcoming period as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council but also the fact that our country is still subject of special attention of the international community.

Ambassadors welcomed this way of communication and gladly accepted the initiative to organize next meeting of this kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina next year.

During her stay in Budapest, Deputy Minister Trisic-Babic also met with Sate Secretary and Political Director of the MFA of Hungary Gabor Iklody. The officials exchanged their views on the current regional issues of both countries’ interest. State Secretary Iklody reiterated Hungary’s strong support to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its road to Euro-Atlantic integration. He also expressed his belief that the current standstill in gaining visa liberalization and NATO MAP status is only temporary and that it will be overcome in the near future.
