Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ana Trisic-Babic Meets with Director General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Commonwealth Countries Ambassador Samah Sotouhy

On December 17th 2009, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ana Trisic-Babic met with Director General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Commonwealth Countries Ambassador Samah Sotouhy and, on that occasion, spoke with him about overall improvement of bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Egypt.

Deputy Minister Trisic-Babic informed Ambassador Sotouhy about the successfully organized Conference of the Alliance of Civilizations for the Southeast Europe which was held on December 14th, 2009 in Sarajevo and added that she strongly supports efforts aimed at improving dialogue between civilizations which could prevent conflicts in the world. In terms of enhancing bilateral relations, she pointed out the whole range of activities which contribute to strengthening these relations and added that courses that diplomats from B&H attended in Egypt were useful for them. Deputy Minister Trisic-Babic also suggested organizing a meeting between B&H diplomats who work at the posts related to the United Nations and Egyptian diplomats who have rich experience with the work of this international organization, in order to exchange views and positions about the activities of the UN and issues related to the Middle East. In this manner, Egypt’s experience would certainly be useful, bearing in mind that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be a UN Security Council member from January of the next year.

Ambassador Sotouhy recalled the session of the Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation held on November 16th and November 17th, 2009 in Cairo at which the Cooperation Agreement between the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federation of the Egyptian Chambers of Commerce was signed. Ambassador Sotouhy assessed this Agreement as particularly useful for developing good cooperation between the two countries and added that it represents only the first phase of the process of further strengthening this cooperation. He also stated that Egypt will continue organizing courses for training diplomats from B&H and give initiatives for further development of bilateral cooperation in this respect.

Ambassador Sotouhy also underlined that Egyptian businessmen should be granted visas for Bosnia and Herzegovina faster and for a longer period of time than before, particularly bearing in mind that we want to improve economic cooperation. Deputy Minister Trisic-Babic stated that this issue will be considered within the consultations which should be held.
