Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sven Alkalaj met with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ireland Dermot Ahern who was paying official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on November 6 and 7, 2007. After the meeting, the two held press conference.
Minister Alkalaj informed about consultations held on improvement of bilateral cooperation and economic relations and thanked for help that Ireland has been providing to Bosnia and Herzegovina for years, namely within donorship conferences and through sending their representatives to international mission to our country.
Ministers Alkalaj and Ahern exchanged opinions regarding the current state of affairs in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in terms of approaching of our country to the Euro-Atlantic standards.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Ahern expressed the interest of the EU as well as of Ireland, which is orientated to the Western Balkans, and highlighted that the European Community would like to see Bosnia and Herzegovina becoming the member of the European family as soon as possible, which requires stable political and economic situation in the country and the region.
